PAT Testing
PAT testing across Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire.
What’s involved
Portable appliance testing checks that the electrical equipment your staff, tenants or guests use is safe: kettles, computers, extension leads, power tools, fridges, heaters and everything else with a plug on it. The Electricity at Work Regulations require employers to maintain electrical equipment in a safe condition, and insurers, landlords’ agents and holiday-let platforms increasingly ask for a current PAT record as evidence that you have.
T2 Electrics & Plumbing carry out PAT testing for offices, shops, pubs and restaurants, schools and nurseries, workshops, holiday lets and landlords across Andover and the surrounding area. Each appliance is visually inspected, tested, labelled with a pass or fail sticker and the date, and recorded in a register you receive with the certificate. Failed items are listed separately with the reason, and we can repair or replace plugs, fuses and leads on the spot.
How often you need it depends on the equipment and the environment; a quiet office is not a building site. We’ll recommend a sensible interval for each class of equipment rather than testing everything every year by default. Most premises are done in a single visit, and we can work before opening or after closing so nothing is unplugged during trading.
- Every appliance inspected, tested and labelled
- Asset register and certificate supplied
- Failed items listed with reasons
- Minor repairs done on the day
- Risk-based retest intervals, not blanket annual
- Before-hours and after-hours visits
Contractors for local businesses
Shops, offices, pubs, schools, farms and letting agents across Andover, Hampshire and Wiltshire. The same qualified team, with the paperwork and flexibility business customers need: method statements and risk assessments where a site wants them, out-of-hours and phased working so trading isn’t interrupted, compliance certificates sent straight to your agent or facilities manager, and accounts for regular clients. One contractor for both trades means one invoice and one number to ring.

Common questions
What people ask before booking pat testing.
How often does PAT testing need doing?
There’s no fixed legal interval. The HSE expects a risk-based approach: office IT every two to four years, kitchen and workshop equipment more often, hired or site equipment more often still. We set an interval per class of equipment and record it in the register.
How much disruption is there?
Each item is unplugged for a minute or two. We work before opening or after closing for shops and restaurants, and around desks for offices, so nothing stops.
Which areas do you cover for pat testing?
Everywhere within roughly 20 miles of Andover: Test Valley and north Hampshire, east Wiltshire including Tidworth, Amesbury and Salisbury, and west Berkshire including Newbury and Hungerford. If you’re just outside that, ask.
