Inspection & Testing
Electrical inspection and testing in Andover and Test Valley.
What’s involved
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a full inspection and test of a property’s fixed wiring, consumer unit, sockets, switches and earthing. It classifies any faults found by severity and tells you whether the installation is satisfactory for continued use. Private landlords in England must have one at least every five years and give a copy to tenants.
T2 Electrics & Plumbing carry out EICRs for landlords and letting agents across Andover, Tidworth, Salisbury, Winchester and the surrounding area, as well as for home buyers who want the wiring checked before completion and homeowners who simply haven’t had it looked at in a long time.
If the report finds anything that needs attention, we quote the remedial work separately so you can see exactly what is required and why, and we issue the updated certificate once it’s done. No second contractor to bring in.

Common questions
What people ask before booking inspection & testing.
How long does an EICR take?
A typical three-bedroom house takes two to three hours. The power is off in stages while circuits are tested, so it’s best done when the property is empty or the occupier can manage without power for short periods.
What happens if the EICR is unsatisfactory?
You get the report with each issue coded C1, C2, C3 or FI and a separate quote for the remedial work. C1 items are made safe on the day. Once the remedials are done we issue a certificate for the work and the report is satisfactory.
Which areas do you cover for inspection & testing?
Everywhere within roughly 20 miles of Andover: Test Valley and north Hampshire, east Wiltshire including Tidworth, Amesbury and Salisbury, and west Berkshire including Newbury and Hungerford. If you’re just outside that, ask.
