Emergency Lighting
Emergency lighting installation and testing across Hampshire and Wiltshire.
What’s involved
Emergency lighting has one job: if the power fails, people can find the way out. Fire safety law requires it in most commercial premises, in houses in multiple occupation and in the communal areas of flats, and it has to be tested regularly and the results recorded. It’s one of the first things a fire risk assessor or the fire service will ask to see.
T2 Electrics & Plumbing design, install and maintain emergency lighting systems to BS 5266 for shops, offices, pubs, restaurants, nurseries, workshops, HMOs and blocks of flats around Andover, Salisbury, Winchester and Basingstoke. That includes exit signs, maintained and non-maintained luminaires, self-test fittings that cut down on manual checks, and integration with existing lighting circuits.
For ongoing compliance we offer monthly function tests and the annual three-hour duration test, with the logbook completed and a certificate issued each time. Faulty batteries and fittings are replaced as part of the visit so you’re not left with a failed test on file.

Common questions
What people ask before booking emergency lighting.
Do I need emergency lighting in my premises?
Almost certainly, if the public or staff could need to leave in the dark: shops, offices, pubs, nurseries, workshops, HMOs and the communal areas of flats. Your fire risk assessment will say what’s required; we design to BS 5266 to meet it.
What testing is required?
A monthly function test, which you can do yourself with the test key switch, and an annual three-hour duration test, which we carry out and certify. Both are recorded in a logbook we provide.
Which areas do you cover for emergency lighting?
Everywhere within roughly 20 miles of Andover: Test Valley and north Hampshire, east Wiltshire including Tidworth, Amesbury and Salisbury, and west Berkshire including Newbury and Hungerford. If you’re just outside that, ask.
